Have to confess I never finished the hitchhiker book, never mind the series. The first couple of chapters were hilarious but then it lost me. Have read a Lawerence Block, and did get to the end but you're probably right, I need to dig out the first in the series. And that leaves three authors completely new to me, thank you!
